BRJD

Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention is a commission operated facility with the following localities as participating members:

	County of Albemarle
	City of Charlottesville
	County of Fluvanna
	County of Greene
	County of Culpeper

BRJD opened for operations in July 2002.  We are a 40 bed state of the art facility designed and licensed to care for Juveniles aged 10 thru 17. The facility was designed by Moseley Architects of Richmond, Virginia and constructed by Kenbridge Construction also located in Virginia.

BRJD is located in the County of Albemarle with The Virginia National Guard Armory and the Albemarle, Charlottesville, Nelson Regional Jail as our neighbors.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention to provide residents with a safe, clean, secure environment through a structured program.  This includes assessment of residents needs through the integration of Academic, Mental Health, Programs and Security practices.  In meeting its mission objectives, Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention will encourage and foster interagency collaboration in support of transitioning residents to the community.
